8 Best IFTTT Recipes for Solopreneurs
One of the things I hate most is doing mindless, repetitive tasks. It feels like the opposite of being intentional with my time to fritter it all away scheduling social media posts or sorting through unimportant emails. But when you're running a creative business, mindless tasks come with the territory. I used to feel like I was stuck in a giant catch-22. The whole point of my freelance business was to give me flexibility and space to prioritize the things that are important in my life in a way a traditional office job doesn't allow. But along with that business comes a whole slough of niggling little tasks that need to happen but that don't feel worth spending my precious time on.
This is one of the many reasons I'm a huge fan of outsourcing, especially to robots. One of the best outsourcing robots on the block is If This, Then That---IFTTT for short. IFTTT is a free way to make things in your business (or your life) happen automatically so you're free to spend your time elsewhere.
IFTTT is based on recipes, which are formulas you set up to make automated magic happen. Get a text reminding you to bring an umbrella if the forecast calls for rain, sync your Instagram photos to Dropbox, or save important tweets to a Google Sheet so you never have to go digging through your Twitter feed.
IFTTT has hundreds of ways to save you time and help you be more intentional about the way you spend your day as a creative business owner. There's just one problem: There are so many recipes to choose from, you could easily waste an entire afternoon browsing through them all!
The outsourcing robots are only magical if they actually save you time, so I did the dirty work and rounded up eight of the best IFTTT recipes for solopreneurs. Check it out over at One Woman Shop and see if any of my favorite time-saving recipes could work for you!
If you don't see what you're looking for in my roundup of the best IFTTT recipes for solopreneuers, try finding your own by browsing through apps you already use. It takes extra time to set up a new app in addition to activating the IFTTT recipe, so you'll have a better chance of finding gold if you stick to apps you already know and love.
